Timeberline trail 2022 (9/9 - 9/11)
September 28, 2022
Circumnavigating Mt Hood has been on my bucket list for many years. I first wondered about it after summiting it in 2017. However I have never considered myself a true backpacker and more of a day hiker. As it turns out I love the repetitive madness of walking 10+ miles a day over and over again.
I am thankful for Tom for committing to do it with me this year and for being a good sport despite the fears of this 3 day/2 night adventure to cover 41 miles/9500ft gain while carrying 30+ pounds. On average we were a solid 2mph Speedy Snails pace putting the finish at 26.5 hours of walking. The river crossings were actually not as scary as I had imagined although the boldering move at Eliot was mentally hard.
